An Open Letter to Ms. Mamata Banerjee

Respected Madam,

You have created history in West Bengal by ushering in a change of guard after thirty four long years. the 'Red Bastion' which hitherto looked invincible, has been humbled at the hustings.

Your resolve and determination all these years have finally paid off, and today you symbolize a new beacon of hope, not only for millions in West Bengal, but in our Country as a whole, who are desperate to see West Bengal transform itself to one of our most prosperous and dynamic states.

Certainly, while there are several challenges awaiting you as the Chief Minister, and you have an unenviable task in delivering upon the expectations of all those who have deposed their trust upon you, there is a pressing need for you to call upon your electorate in particular and the people of West Bengal in general, to come forward and begin that ‘Paribartan’ in their respective attitudes and mindsets right away.

May I suggest that you appeal to the people of West Bengal on the following lines:

Dear Fellow Citizens,

With your support we have created history in our state by ushering in a change of guard at the Writers’ Building after thirty four long years.

Today, I have inherited the governance of a state which is crying for development, where our educated and talented youth have no choice but to migrate out of West Bengal in search of appropriate job opportunities, where major portion of our tax receipts are spent on salaries, pensions, and interest payments on debt, thereby leaving very little for productive expenditure etc.

While you have voted out those who governed our state for over three decades, and reduced it to such a pitiable condition, let us not forget, that the rest of the country is watching us, if we can change our fortunes in the next five years.

While on behalf of each member of The Trinamool Congress, I give you a commitment, that we would leave no stone unturned to live upto your expectations, but at the same time I need a commitment from each one of you as well, that together we will transform our state to one of the most progressive and investor friendly states of our country, which has a highly disciplined workforce.

And to achieve this dream, there would be no more ‘bandhs’ in our state under any circumstances, and any attempt to cause any disruption will be dealt with very severely.

Each one of us who is fortunate enough to be employed anywhere in our state, in any undertaking whatsoever, be it government, private etc, will make a renewed commitment to our employers, that we would display a new sense of commitment and discipline, where our responsibilities are concerned.

If any of us have any genuine grievance, we will address them with our management in a very cordial manner, and attempt to find an amicable solution. Those of our fellow countrymen and others, who wish to invest in our state and generate jobs for us, besides contributing our overall progress and development, would be accorded a warm welcome by each one of us, and we would do everything possible to ensure that their experience of investing in our state, is very memorable indeed.

Let us not forget, that with such an attitude, we would ensure a better standard of living for our own selves, besides making West Bengal one of the most progressive and dynamic states of our country.

Let’s get down to work right away.

Jai Hind !!

A Poem Dedicated to Martyrs From Our Security Forces

On the occasion of our Independence Day, let us all care to spare a moment in the memory of the martyrs from our security forces, who have laid down their lives, while battling the Maoist menance.

The following poem has been dedicated in their memory by me:

Main suraksha bal ka ek jawaan,
Karne chala tha hoi kaam mahaan.

Desh bhakti ki bhawna mujhmein bachpan mein hi jaagi thi,
Aur iss pak vardi ko pahnne ki mujhmein woh junoon jaagi thi.

Apne maa baap ka iklauta laadla tha,
Jise unhone bade laad pyaar se paala tha.

Aur main surakha bal ka ek jawaan,
Karne chala ha hoi kaam mahaan.

Watan ke inn tamaam dushmanon se mujhe sakht nafrat thi,
Inn sab ka safaaya karke hi rahoonga,
Iss irade' ki maine zurrat ki.

Jawaan hokar maine yeh pak vaardi pehni,
Aur bandook utha kar apni farz pehchani.

Main suraksha bal ka ek jawaan,
Karne chala tha koi kaam mahaan.

Bhej daala mere afsaron ne mujhe,
Maovaadiyon ke kisi ilaake mein,

Woh ghane' jungle, saanp, bichu, aur kai jungli jaanwaron ke ilaake mein.
Par maine apne uss iraade ko phir buland kiya,
Yeh maovaadi ab bach nahi sakenge'
Yeh maine ab maan hi liya.

Main suraksha bal ka ek jawaan,
Karne chal tha koi kaam mahaan.

Hukm milne par chal pada kisi mission par,
Kaha gaya tha sab theek hai iss rah par.

Magar kuch pal baad,
Ek a ek, naa jaane kitni dhamaake huye,
Aur goliyon ki naa jaane kitni baucharein huyi.

Dekhte hi dekhte mere kai saathi shaheed ho gaye,
Kaiyon ki kitni bereham maut huyi.

Main tha buri tarah zakhmee lahu luhaan,
Suraksha bal ka ek jawaan.

Naseeb huyi shaheedi mujhe bhi magar kuch pal baad,
Woh khaufnaak dard,
Aur maut ko bhi sharminda kar dene waali cheekhon baad.

Main suraksha bal ka ek jawaan,
Karne chala tha koi kaam mahaan.

Aakhir shaamil ho hi gaya main un anginat shaheedon mein,
Kitni aasani se bhula diya mujhe, mere iss watan ne.

Chorh diya kitni berehmi se,
Maine apne maa baap ko besahara,
Iss dard bhari zindagi mein.

Mujhe apni iss kurbaani ka koi gam nahi,
Kyonki suraksha bal ka mein ek jawaan,
Karne chala tha koi kaam mahaan.

Magar kaash! Apni iss kurbaani ki huch toh keemat hoti,
Heere moti naa sahi,
Mere inn besahara maa baap ki auron mein kuch toh chaahat hoti.

Aur kyon nahi,
Aakhir tha main suraksha bal ka ek jawaan,
Jo karne chala tha koi kaam mahaan.

JAI HIND.

PCR van cops' honour badge- bloody uniform

Frontpage of The Hindustan Times dated 22nd July, had the following newsitem:

" Bloodstained uniforms are now the path to reward for the Delhi Police.
The police chief, to encourage his men to rush injured people to hospitals instead of waiting for ambulances, will give awards to those whose uniforms have blood stains.
The order, which came into effect a fortnight ago, was taken after it was found that some policemen posted in police control room (PCR) vans, avoided handling bleeding victims because they didn't want to soil their uniforms. Now, not only will this be rewarded, Delhi Police will also pick up the cleaning tab to incentivise saving lives."

This step is really praiseworthy, considering the fact that the Delhi Police Chief's decision, has been guided by practical considerations, and not mere wishful thinking, and the prime consideration behind this decision has been to rush the accident victims to the nearest hospital at the earliest, which can even save some lives.

Time for we citizens to take a leaf out of this decision, and come forward to the rescue of the accident victims. Though we may not get any rewards or entitlements like our fellow citizens from Delhi Police, yet at the very least, having the honour of making that vital difference to the unfortunate accident victims, which can even save some precious lives, would be a great reward to our conscience.

Join the Movement

Dear Fellow Indians,

It is indeed a proud occasion for all of us that our Capital city is hosting the forthcoming commonwealth games.

This is an occasion for each one of us and especially the Delhiites, to showcase our rich heritage and cultural values. Certainly, besides the iconic architectural splendors, monuments, and places of historical importance which have simply mesmerized several generations across the globe since times immemorial , and would continue to do so till eternity, perhaps what distinctly stands out is our caring attitudes , which is one of the fabled aspects of the rich traditional heritage of ours, which each Indian irrespective of his or her status, caste, religion, etc is proud of.

Let us take this opportunity to put our best foot forward, and ensure that each guest visiting our Capital City especially for the forthcoming Commonwealth Games, goes back to his or her country with a firm conviction that when it comes to ‘Caring Attitudes’, there is no one to match the Indians in general and Delhiites in particular.

And let us not forget, that if we the people of India , have to stand out in this globalized world where competition is increasing in every aspect of lives by the day, and that too exponentially, then what could lend us that much coveted USP in the world is our ‘Caring Attitudes’.

And of course, it is an occasion not only for Delhiites, but for every Indian irrespective of his/here domicile at present , not only in our country but across the globe to lend a hand to this unique movement, thereby giving it the necessary thrust and momentum. Join the page “Delhi Cares” on Facebook, and motivate your near and dear ones as well to lend their support by joining in large numbers.

Let each one of us pledge to inculcate such attitudes in whichever way possible in our individual capacities, and kickstart a movement right now, to give it the necessary thrust and vigour , so that the ‘Caring Attitudes’ eventually become a vital symbol of every Indian eventually.

Jai Hind !!!
